Of course, Yankee fans will forget, as much as they can for a player they seem to love only when he hits the ball 450 feet. The Yankees will forgive because given the terms of the marriage, what else can they do except hope A-Rod’s skills don’t erode at the chronological rate more common for ballplayers before they began spiking their spinach.

Quite an assault on A-Rod.
Of course, most teams are unfailing capable of forgiving their hometown heroes pretty much any transgression. How Giants fans stood by Barry Bonds I will never understand. Then again, we Red Sox fans laughed off “Manny Being Manny” — there goes another ball onto Landsdowne Street! — almost until his tantrums became too unbelieveable to ignore last summer, played out in front of us daily.
It seems correct, like karma, that A-Rod continues to succeed on paper, despite everything else that’s supposed to come with that success still eluding him; just as the truly despicable Scott Boras and his self-sabotaging Manny have pissed away nearly all their leverage, and lose what little remains by the day.
