Pavlova. It’s dessert. I never knew it existed until M made it last night (above, with raspberries).
Crunchy like pie crust on the outside, soft and sweet like cake in the middle. Topped with fruit and whipped cream. I’ve been yearning for cakepie/piecake for all these years, but never knew it — until now.
Even more interesting, pavlova hails from New Zealand, where it was created in honor of a visiting Russian ballerina in the 1920s.
